My screen looks weird..?

Recently, i bought a clear screen protector for my ipod screen. It's one of those screen protectors that stick to the screen when its in contact with it. However, everytime i apply it, there are always air bubbles. After an hour or so of attempting and failing to apply it without air bubbles, I got frustrated and used water to somehow make it stick to the screen . In the end, it worked and the screen protector stuck to the screen without any air bubbles. The water.. i guess evaporated and it was all fine. But recently, when my ipod is turned off, when you look at it from some view, the color of the screen not is black like its supposed to be. It's black, but not black, black. There's like some illuminating color. The ipod works fine, but im kinda worried if the water messed up the screen. If i haven't confused you already, and if u have some sort of idea of what's going here.. little help?
