Mono or sinus infection?

I've been sick for a while now on and off. Seems to have started in November. One night in October me and this kid made out and he texted me about two weeks ago asking if I had mono, because the doctors said he does, but he didn't think he had it. Anyways at the beginning of the week I started waking up with the "gooey mouth" real disgusting, i had a terrible ear ache and a sore throat. The next day I started getting congested and I have a terrible cough. I went to the doctor, he looked at my ears and nose and said "sinus infection" which, he always does. Never gave me a throat culture for strep or anything. I've had sinus infections before and they've never been like this. I literally slept the last week away. I was laying down yesterday and I noticed this pain behind my ear on my neck, and when I touched it I found a lump. My mom and grandma said it was a lymph node or a swollen gland. My mom wants me to get blood work done because we all think I have mono. What's it sound like to you?
