Was Terminator based on a true story?

we wouldnt really know for sure. See in theory its not because we dont have the technology, but we all know that the government keeps secrets and it is possible that they have a time travel device, and humanoid soldiers, and they are keeping them secret from us, like the apperance of a terminator is identicle to a human, so we wouldnt be able to tell the difference, its possible the jack the ripper, or the boston strangler were terminators sent back to kill their victims, and it is hupothesized that hitler was also a advanced terminator sent back to remove the groups that he did, because in the future the were a dangereous threat. It is all believed that terminators are responsible for the inations of presidents.
