Is the iraqi invasion only about removing saddam before sanctions were dropped?

Rightly or wrongly, Saddam got wiped out because of 911. After the attack, Americans were screaming for blood. Bush had a 97% approval rating and could have invaded the Vatican. In the wake of 911, sanctions were completely irrelevant. The oil companies always get their money. It's market forces at work. The price of gas in the US is still cheap even at 4 bucks a gallon compared to elsewhere.
