I bought a tv ariel extension kit from arogs but it dont work,why have i set it up wrong?

The 2 way splitter goes onto the main outside ariel cable after it comes in threw the wall etc. Then feed your cables from your vcr to the other side. If okay check that you have the right type of connection and that female ends are going into male ends. There is two type i male 2 female or 1 female 2 male. they both seem to connect but will not completely.
